Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his first championship for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a former world number one, has endured a difficult year, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - caused him falling of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-term trainer his previous coach.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive win over challenger Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first title following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court after spring of 2023.

Success also indicates he has won 21 championships at twenty-one different events.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is really nice," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his last six championship matches, comprising in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's retrieving strategy and regular emotional displays on court had caused observers to doubt if his capacity to compete at the elite level was concluded.

However the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and compete assertively, backed up by an enhanced service.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, taking 4 of the last five games to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the second set before the challenger, striving for his maiden ATP Tour title, gained dominance to push for a final set.

He rescued four initial chances in a competitive final set before the champion broke to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner clinched victory with a rally at the net, with his opponent unable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
